Macau has released its gaming revenue report for January.

The region has started 2024 off quite strongly， with the first month seeing a 67% increase from the previous year's statistics and a gross monthly income of MOP$19.3bn (US$2.4bn).

This is perhaps driven by the increasing levels of tourism Macau reported throughout 2023.

Although the tourism statistics for January haven’t been released yet， December 2023 showed the highest number of visitor arrivals since January 2020 - a trend that’s been continuing steadily for the past year.

The total number of visitors to Macau in December totalled 2，943，930 and the average per-capita spending of visitors in Q3 was MOP$2，366.

Looking at last year's gaming revenue trends though， Macau saw a brief dip in February before the gross monthly income increased steadily throughout the year.

Last month is a continuation of this trend， as the MOP$19.3bn from January is a 4% increase from December figures.
