Spillemyndigheden, Denmark’s gambling authority, has reported its gambling spend for the country during the course of 2023. Overall, gambling totalled DKK 10.3bn (US$1.5bn) for the year, signifying a slight decrease compared to 2022 of around 1.7%.

Total gambling spend decreases in Denmark for second consecutive year

Spillemyndigheden, Denmark’s gambling authority, has reported its gambling spend for the country during the course of 2023. 

Overall, gambling totalled DKK 10.3bn (US$1.5bn) for the year, signifying a slight decrease compared to 2022 of around 1.7%. 

This now means for the second consecutive year, gross gaming revenue (GGR) has seen a decline, while this represents its lowest total for a number of years. 

Looking closer at 2023’s numbers,Online Casino Games lotteries once again held the largest market share for total gambling, with gambling spend set at DKK 3.5bn, representing around 34% of total spend. 

Online casino was second at DKK 3.1bn, followed by betting with DKK 2.2bn, gaming machines DKK 1.2bn and finally with 4% of the market share land-based casino was valued at DKK 362m.
